In the case of a 1930 or 1931 Ford Model A, the original tire size was 4.75-19. Through the years, popular tire sizes were combined, resulting in the current availability of 475/500-19 tires. This combination of similar sizes mostly applies to tires produced in the 1920's and 1930's. Many of the early Numeric sized tires feature nearly a 100
To measure the sidewall height of a tire, begin your measurement at the top of the wheel and go up to the highest point of the tire. This will tell you your sidewall height. You can also calculate the sidewall height based on the tire size read from the sidewall. For example, P235/60R15 tire size will be 235 millimeters across the top of the tire.
In this example, the height of the tires would be 70.The aspect ratio is given as a percentage of the tire’s tread width. It is measured from the wheel rim to the top of the tread. In the example above, the 14-inch tires would have a sidewall height that is 70% of the tread width. 70% of 215mm is 150.5mm.
The P/LT mark is often missing from tires, and the sequence starts with the tire width. In that case, the tire is almost guaranteed to be a P-Metric type. 2. Tire Width. P 155 /65R14 75T. Tire width is the first of the three dimensions you’ll find on the sidewall of a tire. This tells us the tire profile, or how tall the tire’s sidewall is. There’s a formula for this, and ours ended up as 45. To put it another way, the sidewall is 45% of the tire’s width. D (R) – It should mean the type of tire you have, which in this example, is a Radial-type tire. 55 refers to the profile of the tyre, or the distance between the wheel and the edge of the tyre, looking at it from the side. The number is the percentage of the width of the tyre. It is commonly known as the ā€œaspect ratioā€. So, the profile of our example tyre is 55% of 205mm, or 112.75mm. This number also increases in increments of 5.
The tire width is the number that directly follows the tire width letter. It is a three-digit number that measures the width of the tire in millimeters. The tire’s section width is measured from the outer sidewall of the tire to the inner sidewall. This is a complete measurement that gives us the exact width of the tire.

Width (A) - The tyre width measured in millimetres. In this example, the width is 185. Profile / Aspect Ratio (B) - The profile is the depth of the tyre sidewall. This measurement is taken from the wheel to the outer circumference of the tyre and is a percentage of your tyre's width (55% of 185mm). In the example above, the profile is 55.

Standard ATV tire size numbers meaning: The overall height of the tire = 26 inches. The overall width of the tire = 10 inches. The wheel or rim diameter = 12 inches. 2. Metric ATV Tire Size. Metric ATV tire size formula is now rare to find because standard tire size formula is less complicated to understand.
